Rob is a Director of The Moss Group where he is responsible for driving the company’s activities in the environmental arena. He is a researcher at heart and his primary interests focus on aspects of environmental biotechnology, the management and beneficiation of waste and the development of more sustainable technologies. He has a PhD in biotechnology and over 20 years of research experience in the fields of bioprocess engineering and environmental biotechnology. He has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed journal publications and technical reports.
Rob has been project leader on multi-year academic and commercial research projects. Rob’s strengths in analysis and interpretation, critical thinking and mentorship underpin his approach to project work.
After completing a post-doctoral fellowship, Rob worked as a senior researcher in the Centre for Bioprocess Engineering Research (CeBER) at UCT for 11 years. He joined The Moss Group full time in September 2014, but continues to collaborate with research groups at UCT, Wits University and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Rob is also associated with Disa Scientific, a research laboratory that investigates environmental biotechnology and agri-processing.
